The Science Theatre

The UNSW Science Theatre continues to play host to a wide array of performances and events. Licensed as a public theatre with a 16-metre wide proscenium arch stage and extensive performance quality sound and lighting technology, the Science Theatre is well suited for stage shows, dance recitals, plays and rock concerts.
 
The split level foyer provides access to both the Stalls (479 seats) and the Dress Circle (347 seats). The main entry to the Science Theatre opens out onto a lawn and the "University Mall" - that leads from Anzac Parade to the John Niland Scientia Building. Backstage facilities include three green rooms/dressing rooms which can also be used as conference offices.
 
There are 3 designated wheelchair positions located in the flat stalls at the front of the theatre. Accessible restroom facilities are located in the foyer.
Technical facilities available in this venue include:
  • Over 100 spotlights and 84-channel memory control system
  • A 40 channel audio mixer, effects, processors and Meyer speakers
  • A full width cyclorama
  • 6 radio microphone channels
  • Internet and phone connection points throughout the building;
  • Burgundy, motorised house curtain and a full set of black stage curtains
  • A supply of chairs and tables for use on stage or in the foyer
  • In conference mode, two video/data projectors and screens
