Tech Tips

Venues and Events, within the University Services Division at the University of New South Wales, is responsible for the delivery and operation of more than 260 CATS lecture theatres, teaching spaces, conference venues and services, to internal and external clients of the University of New South Wales.
 
Included in this portfolio are:
  • Centrally Allocated Teaching Spaces (CATS) - 260 teaching rooms and theatres
  • Sir John Clancy Auditorium - 945 seat concert platform
  • The John Niland Scientia Building (including Ricthie Theatre)
  • UNSW CBD Campus (1 OConnell Street Sydney CBD) - 4 flat floor theatres, 2 tiered Harvard style theatres, 11 syndicate rooms and the thinkPOD
  • AGSM Building - 5 tiered Harvard style theatres & 43 hotel rooms
 
The Audio-Visual team under the direction of Mark Carpenter Technical Director, consists of two technical support teams: a small group of theatre technicians that provides AV, lighting, sound and vision support in the Unievrsity's conference and performing arts venues; and an AV technician team that supports the teaching spaces (CATS rooms).

  • document the design and equipment used in the CATS flat-floor teaching spaces;
  • will hopefully assist you with the presentation equipment and radio mics in our venues; and
  • includes some details on the video-conferencing facilities available at UNSW
